MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

Growing interest in natural health and longevity has raised public awareness of Traditional Chinese Medicine, herbal medical remedies and other forms of alternative therapies. An increasing number of practitioners of Western Medicine now refer patients to holistic medicine clinics for supplementary therapies that support the healing process. Many public medical service plans and extended health benefits programs now recognize the benefits of these disciplines and offer to cover the expense of acupuncture treatments or massage therapy sessions.

As a result, this has driven the demand for qualified practitioners who are thoroughly trained in TCM theory and techniques, as well as the fundamentals of Western medical science. By adopting this approach, practitioners learn to specialize in TCM and be well-rounded health care providers. This is the aim of PCU College of Holistic Medicine.

Since opening in 2002, PCU College has provided students with a superior education and clinical preparation through our holistic health programs. In this short time, the college has grown considerably to become one of the leading clinical training institutions for Traditional Chinese Medicine in Canada. This growth is in large part due to the success of our graduates who have gone on to practice TCM, acupuncture, tuina or spa therapy in clinics or private practice, both domestically and in other parts of the world. We can also attribute this success to our internationally diverse faculty members who have been chosen for their medical expertise, clinical experience and exceptional instructional abilities.

You will notice that the range of our curriculum is as broad as the field of alternative health care.  We will be able to help you on the path to an alternative health care career that puts you in a position to assist others to achieve a state of health and well-being.

John Yang, Dr. TCM, R. Ac., MD (China)
